an intro to untamed reptiles

Hey everybody! My name is Talia I'm 13 years old and this my first ever blog post. (A little bit about me) my favorite thing is the world is reptiles. I'm currently in a home school program and I have 3 leopard geckos. I love to find new ways to improve peoples knowledge on reptiles and I though this blog would be a really good way to do that. If you don’t know what to expect from my blog here's an idea.  (future blog post) care guides, common misconceptions, diy hides and foliage, ways to save money, uncommon enrichment, substrate, background, etc. Now to introduce you to my geckos!                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                  ^(miss mango butt)^
This is miss mango butt, but I just call her mango. Shes a female a temper     albino morph. I really love her because shes really calm and tame. I recently had a huge scare with her which ill get into later. First I want to tell you how I got her. Before I got her I already had a leopard gecko named Milo. I was at petco shopping for stuff for a second leopard gecko and I notice these two people looking at leopard geckos and they asked me what I was looking for. I had explained to them I was looking for stuff for a second gecko and they told me that they were selling leopard geckos and they

She also owned a small rescue and re homing business and she needed to re home some before rescuing more. I was in the store by myself so me and the lady walked over to the store my mom was in and she told my mom the situation. By the way my mom doesn't like reptiles so she refers and redirects me to my dad. I told my dad and he said sure cause I had been telling him that I wanted a second one. So the next evening we meet up in a petco parking lot and she showed up with 2 geckos and 2 tanks and every thing you need for them. I couldn't choose between the temper albino or the wild I wanted so I ended up getting both. I knew I had the space and time so I was fully prepared. so that the story of how I got bmo and mango. Back to the scare with mango I was talking about. When i first got her she had a piece of shed on her eye so I called the vet just to make sure it wasn't anything too serious and they said that she could go blind if I didn't take her to the vet immediately mind you it was 10:00 pm and no one was home. I ended up getting a small Q-tip with warm water and gently got it of her eye. it was very stressful but over all I was just happy she was ok. and last but not least Milo, Milo is the very first gecko i ever got. I got him cause my dad told me if I got all A's I could get one so i did and i bought him legit a whole year later at a petco. Buying him there wasn't what I was planning on but they were housing there animals very good. no sand, no crickets every where, supplementing, heat, and they didn't house 100rds at a time. so thats the end of this chapter i hope you found interesting and contact me for an questions.

Hey Loves, it's been too long since my last post. I have been pretty busy with work, but I need to journal my thoughts on this new development. So about 10 days ago, I was seeing emails about roaches. My first thought was "ewww". I'm pretty sure that's a word.  Anyways...I ignored it and continued working. Ways to Enrich your Reptiles

As reptile owners we try to find ways to enrich our reptiles so that they can have fun and a good living space. Personally I believe that the bare necessity's are never what you should strive for. Not many people know what to use to enrich their reptiles but i have a little list that should help you out.                   (HAMMOCKS)   reptile hammock (SUBSTRATE) Hammocks are a nice way to get your reptile climbing. Many reptiles enjoy using hammocks to rest and bask on. You dont even need to buy one,you can make one yourself ! I notice my geckos like hammocks with pockets in them for them to crawl and sleep in. There are many videos online that you can watch to make one yourself. You don't have to spend a lot of money on them either. You can use an old t-shirt or a sock. you could also get a magnetic reptile ledge but those are a bit pricey.  Not many people know this but reptiles love digging. ...

maintaining a healthy weigh for your leopard gecko

Here specifically we’re going to be talking about leopard geckos. Keep in mind many other geckos have this problem though. Female leopard geckos lay eggs regardless if they have been breed or not. For some people it’s frustrating because It’s hard to keep a steady weight. With leopard geckos it’s very important to keep their tails nice and chunky and to do that you need to keep them feed with a consistent schedule. Here’s a couple pointers if your having problems with getting weight on them. DIET Many people use meal worms and crickets although these are the most easy to find staples they aren’t the best possible staples you  can use. Crickets have carotene in their exoskeleton which makes it hard for your gecko to digest. Crickets have also been known to carry parasites and aren’t even the most nutritious for all the work you have to put in to keep them.
